Hey all. I just made build 10.21 available for download. This catches up the public release to one version behind the Patreon release.

NPCs are interviewed, hired, called in, dressed in uniform, assigned a job, interacted with, and can leave for the day. My goal was to introduce traits for characters that the player character can correct or enjoy. Work Skills are used in determining the performance of employees along with their experience level. For example, if you assign an employee to be a cashier, if they have a higher work skill level they will be able to serve more customers and get them to spend more.

Another thing to mention is that employees take on different activities using AI. They will perform their default job, but then decide to do other things as necessary, like take a nap on the stock room floor if they are sleepy, or take a piss in the alley if the restrooms are busy. The system is in place to allow all kinds of new activities to be added easily.

Interactions with employees are also important. I've built a Markov chain generator directly into the FUBS to make dialog 'special'.

There are lots of other things to mention, but basically I'm trying to finish up work on raw game mechanics this month and then start adding the lewdness.

Year One Done

 4 More Years!



I first blogged about Fucked Up Burger Shack a year ago. There have been ups and downs, but I'm still at it. Looking back, this first year primarily went to adding systems.

A system to generate non playable characters and systems to describe them, save and load them, and give them artificial intelligence. There is the system to travel around, which ties into the banking system, home/sleep system, and Burger Bus work system; All of which include a system for creating random events whenever an action is taken. Weather and time have systems, and so do statistics and ranks. I messed around with a combat system that failed, but was salvaged as a booty call system (which still sucks, unfortunately). All of these systems and more sit on top of my own text system, which needed features like saving and loading, optimizations for compilation and save compatibility, user interface issues, and on and on. Yay, building up systems...

Trouble is, sex took a back seat. Time after time when I felt that everything was working, and started writing things, I found that a system was broken or inadequate for what I was trying to do. The number of random events isn't nearly what I initially wanted, nor are the amount of options during them. I struggled to estimate when I could complete scenes because there was always a variable amount of work needed to make something happen. The two biggest of these issues were first realizing that RandoEngine (the NPC generator) needed to structurally be separate from the the system that describes NPCs, and then finding that the roommate system was actually a nightmare. Everything was fine with Randos up until I realized that I might want to have more than one exist at a time. Not to mention saving them for later. And roommates? I approached the idea from the perspective that each NPC action needed to be a full cyoa event. This just is not possible given the amount of actions and possible states of things. I resurfaced and cut the cancer, but it was a depressing mess for several months that I can't get back :(

All of that said, what's next?

First an overview of the major systems with rough descriptions of completion.

Functional systems

  • Banking - can work with money; spending using different accounts could use some work
  • Home - can enter, leave and buy things; rent isn't collected, nor are neighbors ever met
  • NPC artificial intelligence - a motives based (SIMS style) AI system exists, but isn't used yet
  • NPC descriptions - there are descriptions of up to 6 partners; need more variety and editing
  • NPC generator - spits out fuckable people; could use more details, perhaps real units of measurement
  • NPC saving/loading - NPCs can be saved and restored; limited to only 5 contacts and no other characters
  • Statistics - many actions are recorded, including rankings; not all actions are recorded properly
  • Traveling - can get around to locations and do things; I'd love a visual map and modes of transportation
  • Work (solo) - you can push beef and cum to the masses; I'd like to have multiple locations with different types of customers

Non-functional systems

  • Dating NPCs - booty calls form a basis for dates, but much is missing
  • NPC modification - there need to be ways to transform NPCs bodies, grow their skills, form relationships, and more.
  • Player customization - cock size, fitness, cum levels, diseases are a few things that should be up for modification, but not possible
  • Scouting NPCs - going places & meeting people for the purposes of fucking and more is undone
  • Sexual combat - a system to fight and fuck is undone
  • Work (brand management) - adjusting public opinion of the business is undone
  • Work (catering) - bringing sauce to unsuspecting customers is undone
  • Work (delivery driving) - delivering sauce to unsuspecting customers is undone
  • Work (many employees) - managing a crew of employees is undone
  • Work (one employee) - working with a single partner is undone

I'm certain that all of the 'functional' systems could use work. And I think it would be better to spruce them up as needed instead of starting new systems. At the same time, I'm hungry to move on to the Burger Shack. It's literally the core of everything, but it requires working with many employees... a new system. I've started work on it with a goal of having the Shack running well by the end of August. After that I'm going to pause development on new systems until the next milestone. I need to take time to catch up on incomplete Burger Bus events that lead up to getting the Shack. Plus there are a lot of events related to working with employees and customers in the Shack. And there is a whole to be done with relationships, specifically knocking contacts up and getting them addicted to sauce. I honestly don't want to code anything or restructure anything for the coming year. I'm actually going to impose a limit on myself so that I can focus heavily on things that are pink, and white and creamy, and jiggly things, and thick things, and sporty things, and fluids, and desire, and losing control, and addiction, and impregnation, and depravity, and voyeurism, and exhibitionism, and bimbos, and delicious traps, and soapy massages, and punishments, and cumgasms, and twins, and triplets, and slutty outfits, and bulges, and binge eating, and family corruption, and hand holding, and spit swapping, and breast fondling, and sword fighting, and ass smacking,...

So that's where my mind is at right now. 4 more years!

Fucked Up Burger Shack Release 19

I've got a new release of FUBS ready! 10.19 has a lot of smoothing out of rough edges. I've added keyboard shortcuts for saving, undo/redo and increasing/decreasing font size. The interface has different icons, better bold/italic text, and emoji support. The evil bug with undo/redo is fixed in this version (after hiding in some dusty code for a long while where I couldn't find it because it wanted to be like that for some reason which isn't cool at all). There are also a few new cyoa scenes that lead up to getting Burger Bus upgrades.

As for the current release on Patreon, I've started work on the Burger Shack phase! I'm working out mechanics super heavily like, so there is not much to see yet (so far only basic navigation and employee application review). This update includes lewder negotiation with Skye, A new event with Layla, and the ability for Randos to be generated without underclothes on.

I also fixed a bunch of issues including the well known FlorMart bug.

Fucked Up Burger Shack 8.17 Public Release

Time for a FUBS update. What's new in 8.17? A little java utility I built that I call FUBS Doll Maker.



So here's the background. Making dolls for FUBS is fun, at least in theory. In practice it's kind of tedious. You have to page through all of the files in RandoEngine to figure out all of the details about Randos, find out which properties to set by checking individual files, ensure that everything is overriding the default rules,  etc. etc.. I wanted an easier way, so I built one, and now I'm bundling it with FUBS for you all to play around with.

This is the first version of this little java utility, so I expect there will be some hiccups, but if it actually works on systems that aren't mine, you'll be able to build your own dolls and add them to FUBS for appropriate use.

I've included a lightweight readme that explains how it works. The concept is similar to any character creator, except you are creating a set of important stats that you want multiple Randos to have. I put a few sample doll files into the mega folder as an example of how I'm using Doll Maker.

Finally, this release doesn't include anything new in FUBS itself, so previous saves should work fine. I actually fixed a few hiccups in dolls that I didn't even notice.

  • Added FUBS Doll Maker
    • This is a java utility that allows you to build your own NPCs for 'use' in FUBS. It exposes all of the details generated for Randos in a multi-page form. You can select as many or as few traits as you like, and RandoEngine will handle the rest in the game. The dolls you define are exported as .fate files that go in the 'source' directory, effectively modding FUBS with your creations.

Hunt Bugs, Get FUBS

It was suggested on Discord that I setup a beta testing sort of thing, so I came up with an idea, FUBS Bugs Hunting.

In return for finding issues in FUBS (typos, broken links, dead ends, or problems in general) FUBS Bugs Hunters can get access to the most recent versions of the game. Because the newest builds normally go to Patrons first (barring piracy), access to these test versions requires finding a good number of issues in FUBS first. Links to new builds are shared on a dedicated channel on Discord, and access to this channel will expire if you give up on the hunt.

How to join?
  1. Find issues in FUBS (typos, bad links, dead ends, etc).

Floppy Disks & Toast

Just a quick screenshot gif of some interface tweaks.

I've changed the icon for saving from being a bookmark to being the floppy disk icon. And the load icon is now an open folder. Should decrease confusion a lot like.

Also, I made the undo and redo buttons curly and changed the font size buttons to a big and small 'A' instead of plus and minus.

Something else kind of neat is a notification asset I found that can display toast style messages. I've hooked it up to spit out a bunch of text when a save is made.

Thanks to the Patreon support that's dripped in over time I've been able to get some good stuff for FUBS, like the plugin for Text To Speech available in 6.14, and an app called Graphic that I use to waste time making useless graphics, surprisingly. This time around I grabbed a much needed Unity plugin TextMesh Pro, so that I can mesh text like a pro. So anyway in version 8.16 I've added TextMesh Pro, which after a bucket load of tweaks produces some pretty nice results. I'm not taking full advantage of all of it's features yet because there are more important things to do. Hopefully the Patron folks will tell me that the text is marvelous and my font choice is amazing, so that I won't have to think about Unicode or atlases for a while.

Content wise 8.16 only pushes things forward a little with the story, and there are some new troubles when fucking in public. I'm aiming for another release with the goodness before that one holiday coming up which is a good time to release stuff that belongs in a game like FUBS.

Sharper Text

It turns out that getting text to look nice in Unity is just an absolute clusterfuck, so I ended up getting TextMesh Pro and now things are sharpening up.




I've been knee deep in lots of things that I don't want to think about like unicode, kerning pairs, texture atlases, etc.. Even the characters needed for ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ require additional font assets, but I couldn't let the little guy go.

I'm tying up a few loose ends and should have a build ready pretty soon like. Here is a short screencap of some new things in action.

Input fields are no longer a jarring white color. I really hated that. Also the toolbar has a nice gradient and brighter icons which will now highlight when the mouse hovers over them.

Toggles are also a little nicer, but they may be too dark. The scrollbar is the same for now but I'd like to make it prettier like.

Page titles are bigger and rounder. Links are more curvy too.

Part of the work here was redoing the Unity scenes to use prefabs rather than unique GameObjects. I don't know why I didn't start things off that way, but better late than never. This is also quicker to change so if anyone finds the new changes jarring I can switch things up much easier like.

Aside from those superficial changes, I've been writing more content. It occurred to me that something was missing from all the public sex in the game. Exhibitionist sex is all about the thrill of getting caught. Higher stakes, hotter sex.

With that in mind I've sprinkled in a few problems for the player character if he gets caught in the act fucking out in the open. I'll say that I was somewhat inspired by the idea of getting 'busted' like in the GTA series. It also helps that I wrote a little about crooked cops for some other project that shall not be named. You can avoid being violated if you don't have those 'fucked by' options enabled, otherwise things can get pretty messy fast.

I'm also tackling story scenes, and there is so much to do there that it's a little overwhelming, but I'm only going off the rails with side stories like 60%.  I'm working through that one part after the scene with you know who, y'know. Then you meet those other two and in the other part get introduced to that one lady. Oh and you can cum in her drink too, and in that other guys burger.

And I can't help but waste time on shitty promo images.

Okay I guess I'll add a few more words. I for one like impregnation. I want impregnation in Fucked Up Burger Shack. I've added impregnation to Fucked Up Burger Shack. Actually if you had told me that it would take this long to have impregnation in Fucked Up Burger Shack, Id'a called you a no good liar who deserves death by chocolate (but it's not chocolate).

I'm still tweaking it tho, and I have more to write in the different scenes where the player character cums inside, but the basis is there. Writing these scenes is a ~blast~. I really need to ~get more of them in~. I will continue to ~unload~ more of them. Many mores.

Quick run down of how it works, and right now it only has flavor text in the bus tour. First, the player character has to be fucking a woman in the pussy. Might as well stop reading here if you want to avoid any more spoilers. So yeah, then the player has to cum inside. That should be easy because I don't think I'd make that not an option. So if she is already preggers, it won't stick, sadly. Or if she is infertile, that's a no go too, unfortunately.

Now there are a series of hurdles based on chance. First is birth control strategy. Some women are on the pill and others are not. The pill basically works to strengthen an 'egg power' variable, cause clearly that's how things work IRL. You'll also find a few wonky Randos with strange pill strategies, the lazy types for example are on the pill, but their laxness leads to lower egg power. Then you have those odd birds who say they are off the pill but are actually on it. My personal fave are tho keepers who pretend to be on the pill, but are actually not on it.

Next up, you'll have to deliver the creampie on the calendar days within the girl's fertile window. I actually need to do a little more work with having them be vocal about that. All in all, it's best to just cum inside daily.

Finally there is good old fashion chance/stamina and something else that I can't remember that goes into 'sperm power'. Did I mention I literally caught a cold and missed sex ed class day back in school. True story. Ah well.

Boring code update

Yeah this is one of ~those~ blog posts. Not so sexy, unless you like data structures.

After adding multiple partners to Fucked Up Burger Shack compilation time in the Unity Editor skyrocketed to 14 seconds. There is some overhead to running games inside of Unity for various reasons, but built versions don't have the same kind of overhead. So then every time I changed the source to FUBS I'd have to wait about 14 seconds for the game to compile so that I could play test it. 14 seconds! It was driving me crazy so I had to get hacking.

I put on my old coding cap and drilled down to the root of the issue, an 'indexOf' operation on the underlying passage identifier lookup List. But let me stop right there, because in 101 posts to this Bunkville Blog I've tried to spare readers anything too super specific about programming topics like asymptotic time complexity. I'll summarize it all by saying I did something pretty stupid in the codes, but made it better like now.

After my fixes, compilation time in the editor is coming in around 5 seconds, making my development life much more pleasant. I like to stop at points like these before getting too deep into micro optimization, but I know that there is more work to be done there. I'll get back to it if needed. But then there was something else really annoying me heavily.

As I'm building FUBS I have the need to jump to specific places in the game that I'm currently working in. The most obvious way to do that is to save the game and reload it after making a change. The trouble is that when changes are made anywhere in the FUBS source files, the underlying structure of the game changes, meaning game saves almost always immediately break. This is one reason I chose to use monotonic versioning for FUBS, since it makes the compatibility of releases clear with the number on the left (version 7.15 for example, which is what I'm working on, will be incompatible with 6.14). But this problem sucks more and more as progress made further into the game gets erased. I personally have lost quite a few Randos I was fond of due to save breakage, and it's not cool. -side note- I'm just now realizing that I've created digital creatures that I've grown attached to. Is that a fetish? Anyway, my previous bandage to remedy the compatibility problem was to make a bunch of links into different places in FUBS from the Debug menu. It's a good thing to have, but a lasting solution it is not.

Back with the coding cap on, I figured out a way to stabilize the underlying game structure by caching information about passages and named numbers alongside the game source. FUBS will output a cache folder into the game files directory alongside 'saves' and 'source', which will hold a lookup file to keep a running index of stuff used behind the scenes. Ideally this cache can stay in place across new versions of FUBS to keep game saves working. And it will even work with stuff added via modding, so anyone doing that will have their own personal cache that builds up over time. This is all kind of theory right now, but so far in my tests it looks promising. If all goes to plan FUBS updates will be under the compatibility number 7 for a while.

And that's all I have for now.  I wanted to get rid of these annoyances so that I could focus on more interesting things. More on those interesting things in my next blog post.
