Been codin'

I've been tackling performance issues with my codin' cap on and came out only partially bruised. Check out this gif of the Debug screen for testing RandoEngine output.


What's happening there is I'm spamming the regenerate option using a keyboard shortcut. Each Rando is being generated using a 'crap ton' of rules that define all kind of stuff about them, from hair length to, foot size, to anal affinity. After that the Rando is copied over to a partner. A list of descriptions of the partner are shown when the page loads by checking another 'crap ton' of rules that blend words with properties in a (hopefully) sensible way.

Or in other words I've boosted performance for FUBS by a 'shit ton' and now what were the most taxing bits of the game are buttery smooth (literally in some cases).

I was really concerned that I'd reached the end of the line as far as optimization, but it turns out I just had to try some stuff out that I'd been thinking about for months. Unfortunately the changes that I've made have completely destroyed all of my unit tests for the compiler. Truth is I've had to rewrite those tests across so many iterations on the underlying system that I'm not even bothered about it at this point. Okay maybe a little bothered T_T

What's more important though is I'm planning on putting up another build with this new goodness this weekend. I'm working out some story events that are long overdue. I'm going to avoid biting off more than I can chew, and I'm hoping to have a first version of a new house mechanic inspired by the Sims. I'm just having issues stopping the AI from taking a shit constantly, but that's to be expected.

  1. Nice to see randos with "holy fuck eleventy children!" are still well represented.

    Have you considered using rules for larger bits of text substitutions than the descriptions of randos, or would that be too much work when writing various scenes? Dynamic phrases or lines of dialogue that change based on rando generation could add some variety to scenes that will probably be replayed multiple times.

      I want it, but I've prioritized other things. First I want a scene for each work action (I've got 5 of 10 in the works). Second/third/fourth the scene needs versions for men, women, and trans women. Fifth the scene needs some kind of intro and possible ways to fuck up before sex. Sixth when the player gets to the sex there should be some variety in how to do it. Seventh there should be options for being a top a or bottom. Eighth I must include some kind of depraved options, usually involving the cursed cum (cum farting/cumgasms/cum walks). Ninth there needs to be integration of items, specifically the strap-on harness which wouldn't be too bad except I haven't gotten to it. Tenth I'd like specific options for interesting Randos, like milking and titty fucking busty lactating Randos or having the crowd do a deepthroat contest on a particularly hung Rando with the prize for biggest throat bulge being a freshly squeezed jar of sauce. And eleventy it's crazy even getting to this point but if possible I'd want to get into how Randos act and behave differently to the things that players do or try to do to/with/for them.

      I've purposely tried to avoid dialog for Randos because I would want a nice array of possible things being said. These things are on my mind, but difficult to find time for.

    I read under the previous topic that you may consider a "farm" for milk and such...

    Do you have any plans have those "farms" also provide "meat" for the burgers?... Yes it is as it sounds, I ask if you consider adding some way for turning "useless" randos into "food".

    Considering how strong the effects of the cum are and the PC could EASILY OD ppl and could turn them into brainless husks becuase of that (if done often enough), what are your plans regarding such a thing?
    Just getting throwing them out (dump them in some backalley/abandoned area)? Sell them as slave/living-sextoys? Or "other" uses?

      Hadn't even thought of it. That would make the Burger Shack fucked up alright. My gut instinct (pun intended) is that I wouldn't even be able to write that kind of thing. I'm one of the more ~paternalist~ sorts and I've just naturally made FUBS more lighthearted and comical in that way. Thinking off the cuff there could be some service where you would be able to send Randos out to pasture, but even writing that feels icky. Sorry pro-cannibalism anon.

      That being said this is all speculative. By the time I would even have a farm available in FUBS I suspect I'd have more resources and tools available for those looking to mod things in without my involvement. One of my overall goals is to make the game awesome enough to inspire that kind of interest.

      Yes. I like the idea of too many overdoses leading to dependency and inevitably mind break. As for what can be done with a mind broken Rando that isn't wanted? Haven't really thought about that situation yet. As employees they would probably only be useful as table maids (service customers under dining tables), bathroom attendants (wall fixtures), or cashier assistants (stuff under service counter to service cashiers).

      My 2 cents:
      The idea about the farm also supplying "meat" isn't bad, the real question is how you will handle putting it into the game.
      In the beginning it would just give you a promt like "Would you like to "reuse" useless "cows"?" and just let the randos "vanish" without any more explanaition. (that may also work for a larger audience)

      Further infos/details HOW it is the "meat" is made would need a mod or a checkbox (in the beginning)

      ...Fucked up idea: How about a "special entertainment" once you have your own buildings/restaurants... kinda "choose you own meal" in combination with "sexy snuff":

      "Cattle" is choosen, snuffed in a erotic fashion (fucked while choked etc.) and then taken to the kitchen for "processing"...


      Wierd ideas are wierd...

      OH! And you could call that mod/part: REALLY Fucked up Burger Schack or R-FUBS for short! :D
